"I spend time walking--stopping--feeling and discovering a scene that I carry back to my studio. I avoid any attempt to recreate the scene; instead, I want to express the feeling, the sensitivity, the sensuality of the landscape." | | ~Marshal McDaniels~ |

Watercolor is a fine art medium that has regained popularity in this country. Improvements in the quality of the papers and pigments now allow the collector to consider watercolor a permanent art form.
With improved techniques carefully observed, and using the modern, enhanced pigments available to the watercolorist, a watercolor by Marshal McDaniels is a lifetime investment. |

The northwestern American continent has some of the most beautiful natural landscapes in the world. They comprise a national treasure worthy of reflection. That is what and why I choose to paint.
Many of these landscapes currently lie in the path of economic pressures to change. In the face of these changes, I capture my impressions of these landscapes for the enjoyment of this and future generations. |

During the years of field and studio studies involved in painting natural landscapes I have been fascinated by the tone, color and line of abstract forms found in nature.
The images of reality, when examined closely, are in fact pure abstract forms. You are invited to let your eye travel through each abstract piece, enjoying nature's beautiful simplicity.
Marshal's paintings are greatly influenced by Japanese artists. His use of contrast, a quality that when combined with the use of negative space give McDaniels' paintings a calm, quiet and restful feeling. | |
